A conditioning class designed to increase muscular strength, endurance and power. This class uses high intensity training techniques such as supersetting and plyometric training to take your fitness level to new heights!
My name is Michelle Aasen and I teach all styles of classes at all three Spa Ladies. I have been a certified aerobic instructor for 13 years, with the AFLCA. Of those 13 years, 6 of them were spent co-coordinating the Westgate aerobic program. In 2002 I became a certified Yoga Instructor, through Yoga Wise™. I took my Stott Pilates training in 2004 and was certified in 2005.
I have always enjoyed teaching and being involved with the fitness industry so much so that I went back to school in 1999 to further that interest (with the holistic approach). I took massage therapy and graduated in 2003. I have been working as a registered massage therapist at WOW Chiropractic Clinic in the west end ever since.

Liz originally joined Spa Lady as a member in 1986, just to lose a few pounds. Circuit training was so successful that she soon joined the staff as a trainer! After acquiring the necessary certifications, she worked as a fitness instructor and weight trainer in Edmonton until 1990, when she moved to Connecticut.
Liz returned to Canada to study and then work as a researcher at the U of A. Her focus shifted to active aging. Once again Spa Lady offered a supportive environment for her to develop skills and explore exercise regimes for life-long fitness. She completed a 200-hour training program with YogaFit, becoming a Registered Yoga Teacher, and is certified to teach Stott Pilates.
Liz believes that the key to wellness is a balanced lifestyle, living passionately, and doing what you love to do. She is grateful to Spa Lady for affording her the opportunity to follow her heart and help others be active and mindful.

My interest in group fitness started when I was 18, where I first took a step class with my mother. My interest developed into a passion and I started apprenticing with Spa Lady in 2000. My teaching skills range from Step, to Knockout, to Bodyshop, etc.; soon Pilates will be added to my repertoire of skills, as I am currently taking my Stott Pilates certification. Aside from teaching fitness, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy, and work as an occupational therapist in an acute care hospital.
This is a resistance and cardio class IN THE GYM on our exclusive Sprint Circuit Machines. This quick effective workout provides full conditioning and cardio training for maximum results!
I am a firm believer in keeping fit & healthy. I have been a Spa Lady member for about 20 years and have always been very active enjoying many sports and activities, from water skiing to downhill skiing and swimming to biking, I'll try anything that makes me move. Last year I put three sports together & competed in the World Masters Triathlon event (swim 1.5K, bike 40K, run 10K). I came home with "GOLD".
I have been teaching group fitness since Sept 2000. I started teaching bootcamp (AT) then moved on to teach, BFL, Step, SSP, and am presently teaching Sprint Circuit, Spa Ball & Body Shop at the Heritage location. I love teaching group fitness. To see the smiles on your faces as you push yourself to your limit or as you master a new move, and as we cool down the look of accomplishment and satisfaction that fills the room. To hear your stories of weight loss, strength gained, the smaller sizes you are wearing, how much better you sleep, you feel healthier, you eat better, how much you LOVE coming to classes and most of all, that you feel so good about yourself. If you feel good about yourself everything else falls into place.
Members asked "what keeps me motivated and where do I get my energy." -I don't take my body & health for granted. It is up to me to keep it healthy and active no one else can do it for me. (At 5 yrs old a bike accident should have killed me, Dr.s amazed at recovery, developed severe asthma at 20yrs old refused to give in to it, kept active, 15yrs later Dr.s can's believe remission.
-Attending fitness & nutrition conferences/courses, keeps me fresh & up to date on whats new.
-I can't stop getting older, but I can choose to stay young, mind, body & soul.
**YOU, the members, your enthusiasm, energy and smiles. The more you want the more I will give. There is much truth in the saying "energy breeds energy". Just come to one of my classes, you'll see!!
I leave you with this, "The BODY achieves what the MIND believes". "ACHIEVING starts with BELIEVING" Believe in yourself, trust yourself.
