Zumba is the newest fitness trend and it is all about the PARTY!!! It's all about dancing! You'll be moving to Latin styles fused with Hip Hop and Reggaeton and you'll burn calories and work your core without even focusing on it! Come join us for the party and have fun!

9:05 am - 9:50 am

This is a resistance and cardio class IN THE GYM on our exclusive Sprint Circuit Machines. This quick effective workout provides full conditioning and cardio training for maximum results!

10:15 am - 11:15 am
[+]Combo Intermediate

A combination workout that includes cardio and muscle conditioning. The cardio work can be hi/lo, step, interval or knockout workout and the conditioning phase can use any of the equipment.

Dana Lang, age 27; recently married in September; Presently a psychiatric nurse at the Royal alex and Glenrose; Just finished nursing degree at the U of A; Teaching group fitness for year and a half, mostly kickboxing classes but will be teaching Sprint starting next week; Hobbies: sailing, kickboxing, ultimate frisbee, raquetball and just recently - scrapbooking

4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

A great step workout without confusion. This step class will vary in intensity to provide good cardio conditioning. It will accommodate all fitness levels as different intensity options are offered.

I've always loved being active and have had a passion for running since I was a teenager. I was an aerobic bunny of the 80's. After I had my 3 children, I found myself out of shape and tired. It was back to the gym and it was at Spa Lady. I met Sandra Stessun who taught step classes and I was soon a follower of her classes. Sandra approached me to start teaching. I took her up on the challenge and haven't looked back! I teach Step Interval, Sprint Circuit, Step & Tone. I have my certification in group fitness and resistance training.

5:15 pm - 5:45 pm

An intense 30 minute cardio workout. The workout may vary between step, hi/lo, athletic training, or even add light resistance to enhance your cardio workout. This power packed class is a great way to get your recommended daily dose of aerobic exercise!

I've been teaching group fitness classes for over 12 years. I've been a part of the Group Fitness Coordinator team for several years. I am currently the Promotions Coordinator for all three Edmonton locations. I believe you should enjoy yourself when taking classes, which is why I like to bring fun into my classes. I encourage the participants to not only work hard but laugh as well. Every once in a while, I like to teach classes that bring a flavour of what's happening around us, such as the Olympics.

5:45 pm - 6:15 pm
[+]Metacon Craze Intermediate

Metacon - Metabolic Conditioning - Craze is taking your basic exercise moves and making this such an intense workout in only 30 minutes! High repetitions of strength training and little rest will make you crazy for this class!

6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

A weight training workout using a barbell and plates in the group fitness studio. It achieves maximum results and is the quickest way to get in shape. Our experienced instructors will focus on technique for safety and use their dynamic energy to power you through this amazing full body workout.

7:45 pm - 8:45 pm

This class brings pilates mat based exercises to our group fitness studios. You will work the abdominals and spinal muscles whilst improving awareness of cervical, scapula, rib and pelvic placement and the role of the breath. In addition to improving body awareness, this class will help to increase core strength, posture, body alignment and flexibility. All of our instructors have been trained in STOTTâ„¢ pilates.

Liz originally joined Spa Lady as a member in 1986, just to lose a few pounds. Circuit training was so successful that she soon joined the staff as a trainer! After acquiring the necessary certifications, she worked as a fitness instructor and weight trainer in Edmonton until 1990, when she moved to Connecticut.

Liz returned to Canada to study and then work as a researcher at the U of A. Her focus shifted to active aging. Once again Spa Lady offered a supportive environment for her to develop skills and explore exercise regimes for life-long fitness. She completed a 200-hour training program with YogaFit, becoming a Registered Yoga Teacher, and is certified to teach Stott Pilates.

Liz believes that the key to wellness is a balanced lifestyle, living passionately, and doing what you love to do. She is grateful to Spa Lady for affording her the opportunity to follow her heart and help others be active and mindful.
